Sugar Free Chocolate Raspberry Protein Bites
I don’t know if it’s because it finally feels like summer here and I’ve been going to the gym constantly to get that summer body ready, or if it’s watching my girls do all of their activities with their strong bodies, but I am on a protein kick. Growing up I didn’t realize all the benefits protein had on your body and health, but the more I learn about it the more I understand, and love and appreciate the importance of protein. Which is why I had to make some chocolate, raspberry, protein bites because I am always on the go and sometimes find myself super hungry. Don’t reach for a sugary candy or cookie try this simple recipe instead. This is truly a mouth-watering flavor with delicious sugar free dark chocolate to satisfy your sweet afternoon craving. This will give you the right amount of sweetness and protein to hold you over until next meal time.
While containing all of those healthy benefits that come with protein, I also made a snack that has chocolate in it! But to make things even better, it’s sugar free. Yes, we somehow have a snack that is all things healthy, sugar free, and filled with chocolate. All of my dreams have come true with this recipe. I made sure to add healthy protein and fiber, making this protein bite gluten free at the same time. Its all natural easy to find in your kitchen ingredients. No bake simple to put together treat for the whole family. You will never get bored of snacking again, because it so good for you packed with healthy ingredients that will keep you satisfied and craving less sugary treats. As I mentioned earlier, I am on a protein kick. Part of the reason for that is because I am trying to get my body stronger but also because I stare at my kids and think how in the world do these little munchkins have 6 packs? I also realize that the reason for that is because of their healthy lifestyle. Whether it’s dance, soccer, swimming or even just playing outside I try to give them healthy snacks that will give them the energy they need to do all of those things without just being on a sugar high. And we all know how bad sugar is for our health and our children. Sugar attacks our immune system making us weaker, it also robs us from energy because when we eat sugar we get the high but shortly after super low energy. Sugar tricks our brain in releasing endorphins and good feeling but shortly after making us crave for more, its a terrible cycle which can leads us to unhealthy habits and serious diseases.
That is why I am so against the overuse of sugar, its hardly impossible to avoid it because its in everything. Let’s all do our selves a favor by avoiding sugary snacks and doing a better job of reading labels. Lets learn whats in our foods and let find easy healthy recipes that are sugar free and healthy treats and these protein bites will do just that! My girls love them because they do have chocolate and raspberries and I love them because I know I am giving my kids heathy snacks that they will enjoy and will be beneficial to their health!
Yield: 25 balls
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup raw cashews
1 servings vanilla protein powder ( I use plant-based)
2 tablespoons Powder Lite and Sweet
8 dates, pitted
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 ripe banana
1/2 cup freeze-dried raspberries
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the oats, cashews, protein powder, dates, cocoa powder and salt in a food processor and blend until everything is a smooth, floury consistency.
- Add the banana and blend until a thick, slightly sticky dough forms.
- Roll out 25 balls and place them on the parchment paper.
- Pulse the freeze-dried raspberries in a food processor.
- Roll each ball in the raspberry powder and return to the cookie sheet.
- Store in the fridge in a sealed container for up to a week.
