No Sugar Added Chocolate Covered Bananas

Dessert is something I love eating especially after a good meal. I love to eat chocolate but hate how much calories you can get from desserts,  that’s why I choose to make my desserts with fruits and sugar free chocolate. I feel better about eating a treat or dessert when I know it is all healthy and good quality ingredients with a natural sweetener Lite and Sweet xylitol/erythritol.  This dessert treat is easy to make and combines the healthy benefits of bananas and sugar free creamy chocolate sweetened with a good natural sweetener you can feel comfortable eating.
Like I mentioned above this is a super easy and fun recipe to make because it doesn’t involve to many ingredients and is super fun to get your kids involved. They will love helping out making these fun treats and you can start by having the kids help cut the bananas and add the wooden sticks. Then place the bananas in the freezer for 20 minutes so the bananas are firm and this will be easier to add the chocolate. Next you will want to boil the water and use a heat safe bowl to melt the chocolate and Lite and Sweet over a double boiler on the pan of water. Next you will want to dunk the bananas and remove them from the chocolate in a swirly motion upwards. Before placing them back in the freezer, I like to sprinkle some unsweetened coconut, but you can add nuts or sea salt because they both tastes great too.
This healthy summer snack is simply made with only 3 ingredients, easily customizable because you can change the topping from unsweetened coconut to nuts, or sea salt and kid friendly. You will enjoy making this delicious recipe that can be converted to a frozen treat and enjoyed anytime of the day. I love bananas and they are super versatile and perfect to grab on the go snack. It’s great because you can make this all times of the year since bananas are always available in the stores. Bananas are so good and filling and when you add a good layer of creamy sugar free healthy chocolate makes it even more enjoyable for everyone. They can be made ahead and stored in a sealed container in the freezer for a few weeks so you can enjoy it overtime. The best thing about making this recipe is that there are no rules! Go bananas and get creative because the sky is the limit here. Happy snacking!

No Sugar Added Chocolate Covered Bananas


3-4 Bananas

12 oz sugar free chocolate chips

1/4 cup powder Lite&Sweet

unsweetened coconut flakes, optional


Cut the bananas and add the wooden sticks on one end.

Place the cut up bananas in the freezer for about 20 minutes until they are very firm but not frozen.

In a medium saucepan bring water to a gentle simmer. Place a heat-safe bowl on top of the pot so that the bottom bowl is not touching the water. Add the chocolate chips and Lite&Sweet to the bowl, turn off the burner and allow the heat and steam to melt the chocolate stir occasionally with a spatula until smooth and melted.

Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Holding the banana by the side, dip t in the chocolate and roll it to coat.

Use a fork to get it out and put on the prepared cookie sheet.

Add unsweetened coconut flakes if desired.

Chill coated bananas in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
