Warm weather brings cool desserts, and if you couldn’t already tell I’m a big lover of ice cream. But not just any kinds of ice cream, homemade ice cream! Believe it or not, it’s much easier to make it than it is to go out and buy some. And it is definitely a lot healthier than something store bought. In my previous blog post I talked about a homemade vanilla ice cream, but you all know I’m a chocolate girl so I obviously had to make a no sugar added chocolate and banana ice cream.

This recipe you don’t need an ice cream machine because it’s super simple, made from frozen bananas and unsweetened cocoa powder placing everything in a food processor. It has no lactose at all and can be a great option for children to eat more fruits. It’s a great vegan dessert as well. Especially for these hot days when we are sweating a lot from the high heat is good to balance our electrolytes with healthy minerals and potassium. Water is great tô hidrate but bananas can be extra helpful and you don’t want to be baking this summer. Instead freeze your bananas and make this simple ice cream that everyone will love.

Chocolate ice cream is one of my favorite desserts, but I am always looking for something to combine with it. Like I mentioned about we add frozen bananas, sugar free peanut butter and a splash of almond milk to make it creamy. The combination of all of these ingredients creates a creamy, frosty, and chocolatey ice cream that is the perfect dessert for those warm summer nights.

As I have mentioned before I love being able to make food with my family and little girls, and they might love ice cream more than I do. It was actually their idea to add in one more ingredient that I think brings this whole recipe together and it’s unsweetened dark chocolate chips. It adds texture, flavor and I will never complain about adding in some extra chocolate! Ice cream is a must for the summer and when you make it from scratch it tastes that much better. Cool down summer with homemade ice cream that is healthy and finger licking good.

No Sugar Added Chocolate Banana Ice Cream

Ingredients:

3-4 Frozen Bananas, cut into chunks

1 tablespoon Lite and Sweet

1 tablespoon Sugar Free Peanut Butter (or almond or cashew)

1/2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tablespoons unsweetened almond milk

1 tablespoon unsweetened dark chocolate or sugar free chips

Directions:

In a food processor place bananas, Lite and Sweet, sugar free peanut butter, and unsweetened cocoa powder pulse a few times to chop the bananas and mix the ingredients. Next add the almond milk blend it until smooth and creamy. Add the unsweetened dark chocolate and pulse once more. Scoop ice cream in a bowl and enjoy!
